Strong Storm Wednesday Afternoon, Tornado Touches Down in Dundy Co.

Wednesday afternoon and into the evening brought very strong storms for parts of Nebraska and Kansas.

The National Weather Service in Goodland, KS received multiple reports of a tornado near Benkelman, NE and one in Rawlins County, KS.

NWS Meteorologist David Thede talked with KRVN’s Tyler Cavalli about the storms.

The NWS also received reports of a homestead near Herndon, KS may have been damaged by a tornado in Rawlins County, but no reports of injuries were called in.

Other parts of the region received large hail, according to Thede.

As we head into the long holiday weekend, Thede gives an idea of what the forecast will look like for the Goodland, KS NWS region that includes Southwest NE, North East Colorado, and Northwest KS.
