St. Paul VFD receives mutual aid in responding to house fire

St. Paul, Neb. — St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department (SPVFD) was paged out to a house fire at the corner of 7th and L street in St. Paul shortly before midnight on Monday.

Residents made it out of the home before they arrived on scene. Fire crews were faced with extreme cold and icy conditions and were on scene for a little over 3 hours.

Firefighters used an aggressive interior and exterior attack on the home. While completing a search of the home they located and rescued the family’s cat.

St. Paul Fire Department was assisted by Farwell Volunteer Fire Department, Elba Fire & Rescue, Saint Libory Nebraska Fire & EMS, Boelus Fire & Rescue, Dannebrog Fire Department, Howard County Sheriff’s Office and St. Paul Police Department.

SPVFD said the Red Cross is assisting the family.
