The #7 seed Seward Bluejays fell in both games at the Class B State Softball Tournament. In game one on Wednesday, Seward played #2 Blair in a windy and cold first round game. Blair held the Bluejays to just one hit throughout the contest, and took the victory 10-0 to move on in the winner’s bracket, and send Seward to an elimination game.

Next up for Seward was the #6 seed Gretna East, who lost its first round game to #3 Beatrice 17-9, but Gretna East bolstered five home runs in the loss to Beatrice.

The Griffons scored first in the second inning with a two-out RBI double. Seward pulled within one-run of the lead after a RBI single by junior first baseman Bell Herring in the top of the 5th. The Bluejays scored three more runs in the top of the 6th and 7th innings. An RBI double by Danielle Pallet scored the tying run in the top of the 7th inning, and the score was 4-4.

Gretna East was able to walk it off in the bottom of the 7th inning with a ground ball to left field that scored the runner at third base for a 5-4 win.

Seward ends the season at 22-12.
