The Kearney/Buffalo County crash investigation teami is investigating a multi-injury traffic accident that occurred late Saturday afternoon. It was reported at 4:28p near the intersection of Grand Island Rd and Shelton Rd. or about 10 miles north of Shelton. It involved a Dodge pickup and a Toyota Highlander and resulted in several persons injured, according to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency Medical Services from Shelton, Gibbon, Ravenna, Wood River, and CHI-Good Samaritan Hospital responded to the scene. Two adults and three juvenile occupants of the Toyota were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital & Kearney Regional Medical Center by EMS. The occupant of the Dodge was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by Air Care.
The preliminary investigation shows that Dodge was driven by a 20-year-old male of Ravenna and Toyota was driven by a 46-year-old male of Lexington. Shelton and Gibbon Volunteer Fire Department personnel responded to extinguish a field fire that ignited due to the crash. Additional details will be released as information becomes available and the crash report is complete.
