A North Carolina man was taken into custody earlier this week after police say he tried to kill two York residents.

The York Police Department says officers responded to a home on Meadow Lane on Monday night for a possible burglary.
The people who lived there were not inside at the time, but video surveillance captured someone exiting the home.
The suspect – 22-year-old Jonah Jewell – was later located by a sheriff’s deputy and detained.
According to police – officers learned that Jewell had been sending threatening messages to a family member threatening to kill them.
Physical evidence, including a loaded gun and statements made by Jewell revealed he was intending to kill the family members living at the home.

Jewell was arrested for attempted first degree murder, burglary, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and terroristic threats.

Court records say he will be arraigned on Monday.
