NEBRASKA: For the week ending August 4, 2024, there were 6.7 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 12% very short, 37% short, 47% adequate, and 4% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 10% very short, 33% short, 53% adequate, and 4% surplus.

Field Crops Report: Corn condition rated 3% very poor, 7% poor, 20% fair, 46% good, and
24% excellent. Corn silking was 97%, near 94% last year, and ahead of 92% for the five-year
average. Dough was 51%, ahead of 39% last year and 40% average. Dented was 5%, near 2%
last year and 3% average.

Soybean condition rated 2% very poor, 5% poor, 20% fair, 54% good, and 19% excellent.
Soybeans blooming was 95%, ahead of 90% both last year and average. Setting pods was 73%,
ahead of 63% both last year and average.

Sorghum condition rated 0% very poor, 5% poor, 21% fair, 57% good, and 17% excellent.
Sorghum headed was 65%, ahead of 53% last year and 54% average. Coloring was 2%, near 3%
last year and 4% average.

Oats harvested was 91%, ahead of 73% last year and 84% average.

Dry edible bean condition rated 9% very poor, 7% poor, 27% fair, 40% good, and 17% excellent.
Dry edible beans blooming was 69%, equal to last year, and near 72% average. Setting pods was
41%, near 37% last year and 39% average.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 11% very poor, 15% poor, 27%
fair, 35% good, and 12% excellent.


KANSAS: For the week ending August 4, 2024, there were 6.4 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 14% very short, 41% short, 43% adequate, and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 13% very short, 42% short, 44% adequate, and 1% surplus.

Field Crops Report: Corn condition rated 7% very poor, 15% poor, 31% fair, 36% good, and
11% excellent. Corn silking was 92%, near 88% last year, and ahead of 87% for the five-year
average. Dough was 70%, ahead of 52% last year, and well ahead of 48% average. Dented was
10%, near 8% last year and 9% average.

Soybean condition rated 3% very poor, 10% poor, 28% fair, 48% good, and 11% excellent.
Soybeans blooming was 77%, behind 82% last year, but near 73% average. Setting pods was
41%, behind 49% last year, and near 42% average.

Sorghum condition rated 6% very poor, 11% poor, 38% fair, 39% good, and 6% excellent.
Sorghum headed was 58%, ahead of 41% last year and 39% average. Coloring was 10%, near
8% last year, and ahead of 5% average.

Cotton condition rated 2% very poor, 11% poor, 30% fair, 40% good, and 17% excellent. Cotton
setting bolls was 72%, ahead of 67% last year, and well ahead of 49% average. Bolls opening
was 2%, near 1% both last year and average.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 7% very poor, 17% poor, 29%
fair, 38% good, and 9% excellent.
