Omaha, Neb. — A Hastings woman was sentenced on Friday, June 24, in federal court in Omaha to five and one-half years in prison for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

36 year old Vallen Bateman was present at a Grand Island residence in September of 2020 when a federal arrest warrant was being served for John Wizinsky following Wizinsky’s indictment for distributing methamphetamine.

Bateman had an active warrant out of Howard County and was arrested. She admitted to having marijuana in her nearby backpack. A search of her backpack revealed 80 grams of methamphetamine, a scale, and 13 grams of marijuana.

Wizinsky was sentenced in July of 2021 to nearly 22 years in prison.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Grand Island Police Department and the Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Streets Task Force.
