HOLDREGE, NE – Embecta, the largest manufacturer of the world’s insulin syringes, held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday in Holdrege at its facility celebrating its spin out from parent company Becton, Dickinson and Company, also known as BD, earlier this year.

The Holdrege site is now one of three locations, the other two being in Ireland and China. The Holdrege facility employs a little over 500 people with a goal of 550 by fiscal year 2023.

Embecta produces injection devices for people around the world living with diabetes and manufactures 75% of the world’s insulin syringes at its Holdrege facility.

Embecta Plant Manager Chief Davidson says, “We want to make folks that are suffering from diabetes have an easier and better life.”

Davidson adds their injection devices save millions of lives every year and they take that fact very seriously at Embecta.

Phelps County Economic Development Executive Director Ron Tillery spoke at the ceremony and he says Embecta will be good for the community of Holdrege in many ways.

Tillery adds that they are working together to bring existing and new employees to Holdrege.
