Cross County storms past Blue Hill

August 21st, 2021 | Nate Rohr

STROMSBURG – Class D1 No. 2 Cross County opened the 2021 season with a nearly perfect thrashing of Blue Hill, as the Cougars hammered the Bobcats 86-8 Friday in Stromsburg in both teams’ season opener.

All-State running back Carter Seim paced the Cougars, rushing for 200 yards on 11 carries, all in the first half. In a stretch of four straight carries, Seim ran for touchdowns of 19, 48, 19 and 55 yards. In total, Seim racked up five rushing touchdowns while also grabbing an interception on defense.
He was far from the only Cougar hero, though. Seven different Cross County players scored touchdowns, while the Cougars scored a touchdown on all 11 of their drives.

Cross County’s (1-0) defense was similarly impressive, holding the Bobcats to minus-four yards for the game on 28 offensive snaps. Blue Hill’s (0-1) lone scoring drive came in the fourth quarter, a 17-play, 48-yard march capped with a touchdown scored with one second remaining in the game.
