CRC Semifinals in the books, Championship matches set for Friday

Girls: #1 Cross County beat #4 BDS 39-23

In Crossroads Conference Tournament semifinal action Thursday afternoon at the York City Auditorium, Cross County’s girls advanced to their third straight title game with a 39-23 win over BDS. The game was tight and low-scoring early, with the Cougars up 5-4 after a quarter. They extended their lead to 22-13 by halftime, and steadily pulled away throughout the second half of the contest, and went on to win by 16 points. Cross County sophomore Shyanne Anderson rained down seven three-pointers in the game to lead all scorers with 28 points. Cross County (13-6) will be gunning for their third straight CRC Tournament championship Friday evening at 6:30 against Exeter-Milligan. BDS (15-4) will face Meridian in the 3 pm consolation game.

Boys: #1 Osceola beat #5 Nebraska Lutheran 73-43

In boys CRC Tournament semifinal action, top-seeded defending champion Osceola rolled to a 73-43 win over Nebraska Lutheran. It was all Bulldogs from the opening tip, as they bolted out to a 25-8 first quarter advantage. By halftime, they doubled the score on the Knights, leading 46-23, and cruised to the big win. Isaiah Zelasney pumped in 26 points to lead Osceola (14-2) and put them in the championship game for the second consecutive year, where they will face Cross County Trey Richert scored 18 for Nebraska Lutheran (11-4) who will play BDS in the 4:30pm boys consolation game.   

Girls: #6 Exeter-Milligan beat #2 Meridian 39-33 

Cross County awaited the winner of Exeter-Milligan and Meridian in the second girls CRC semifinal. Meridian got off to a nice lead in the first quarter and led by eight halfway through the first frame. Exeter-Milligan however ended the quarter on a 8-0 that tied it at 13. The Timberwolves then jumped out to a six-point lead at halftime. Meridan started to gain momentum in the third period as they held Exeter-Milligan to just one point. The fourth quarter was led by Timberwolves senior Cameron Jansky. She scored nine of her 17 points in the fourth to carry her team past the finish line, and the T-Wolves defense held the Mustangs to just four points in the final quarter, and E-M went on to win 39-33. Exeter-Milligan will play in Friday’s championship game against Cross County at 6:30 pm. Meridan with the loss moves to the consolation game against BDS at 4:45 on Friday.

Boys: #2 Cross County beat #4 BDS 41-25

It was a six-point lead for the Cross County Cougars going into the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s semifinal between the Cougars and the BDS Eagles. Cross County had a 29-23 going into the fourth, and held BDS to just two points, as Cross County would win 41-25. Cory Hollinger for Cross County finished with a game-high 18 points. Shayden Lundstrom added 5. BDS was led by Eli Noel who had 9. Cross County’s win will move them to Friday’s final against top-seed Osceola.
