Celebrating Independence Day and agriculture

Americans wouldn’t be celebrating Independence Day without the help of their agrarian-loving founding fathers.

George Washington was primarily a tobacco farmer, but eventually diversified into growing wheat, corn, carrots, cabbage, and a variety of other crops.

Thomas Jefferson was a farmer, but he was much better at public service than raising a crop. In fact, his neighbors referred to him as “the worst farmer in Virginia.”
