The Seward County Sheriff’s Office responded to an ATV rollover accident shortly before 9:00pm Saturday evening, just south of Beaver Crossing.
Preliminary investigation on scene revealed an ATV was traveling southbound on 413th Road when the ATV left the roadway and drove up an embankment. The driver and sole
occupant, 46-year-old Corey D. Smith of Fairbury, NE lost control and the ATV rolled, pinning the driver underneath the ATV.
Smith was transported to Friend Community Hospital by ambulance, then transported by StarCare to Bryan West Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.
The Seward County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the accident and were assisted by the Beaver Crossing Fire/Rescue and StarCare Medical Transport.
