Former Nebraska and Kansas State quarterback Adiran Martinez has been signed by the NFL’s Detroit Lions.

Late last week, the Lions posted a list on Twitter of a number of undrafted free agents they had signed, and Martinez was on the list.

Martinez was a four-year starter for the Huskers and played in 39 games under former head coach Scott Frost. In his time at Nebraska, Marinez threw for 8,491 yards along with 45 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. he also ran for 2,301 yards and 35 scores.

Martinez transferred to Kansas State for his final year of eligibility and appeared in 10 games for the Wildcats with nine starts. He threw for 1,261 yards and six touchdowns with one interception and rushed for 627 yards and touchdowns.

Martinez dealt with injuries in the second half of last season and missed the team’s win in the Big 12 Championship and their loss in the Sugar Bowl.

In February, Martinez was drafted in the second round by the New Jersey Generals of the USFL, coached by former Husker head man Mike Riley.

Martinez opted to not play in the USFL and hold out for a shot at the NFL instead.
