Storm has season come to an End

Kearney, NE. – The Tri-City Storm’s 2020-2021 season came to an end Sunday at the Viaero Center in a 3-2 loss to the Fargo Force in Game #3 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Carter Mazur and Cole O’Hara scored the Storm’s goals in the final game of the season. The Fargo Force advanced to the Western Conference Final with the victory. Carter Mazur scored a goal just over one minute into Sunday’s 1st period to give Tri-City a 1-0 lead. Matthew Knies and Conner Hutchison recorded assists on the play. At 6:44 of the period, Tristan Broz netted his second goal of the postseason to tie the game at 1-1. Cole O’Hara gave Tri-City its final goal of the season at 12:52 to put the Storm in front by one goal. Gavin Brindley assisted on the play. Tri-City was outshot 13-9 in the 1st period but carried a 2-1 lead into the 2nd period. Fargo’s Mason Salquist netted a power-play goal at 6:05 of the 2nd period to tie the game at 2-2. Three minutes later, Jeremy Davidson scored his first goal of the postseason to give the Force a 3-2 lead. Tri-City outshot Fargo 17-6 in the 2nd period but trailed by a goal entering the 3rd period. Tri-City outshot Fargo 12-3 in the 3rd period but could not find the game-tying goal and fell to the Force by a final score of 3-2. Todd Scott recorded the loss in net after making 19 saves on 22 shots. Fargo’s Brennan Boynton turned away 36 of Tri-City’s 38 shots to pick up the win in goal. The Storm finished the 2020-2021 season as Western Conference Regular Season Champions for the fourth time in the organization’s twenty-one-year history. Tri-City led the USHL in regular season attendance, averaging 2,274 fans per game.
