SEWARD – Kearney Catholic and Holdrege boys and girls soccer teams showed strong performances on Monday at the Seward Soccer Invite, but it was the Stars that won both sides of the tournament.
For the boys, Holdrege faced Seward in the opening round while Kearney Catholic faced off against Omaha Concordia. Carlos Nino de Rivera and Dashton Edgren both scored while the Dusters dominated Seward 5-0. Kearney Catholic downed Omaha Concordia 2-1.
In the following round, Holdrege couldn’t contain the Stars as Kearney Catholic won 4-1.
On the girls side, Kearney Catholic faced Seward in the opening round while Holdrege squared off against Omaha Concordia. The Lady Stars rushed past Seward 5-0, and the Dusters Bethany Goodschmidt dominated with 4 goals leading Holdrege to a 5-0 win.
The Stars would down Holdrege in the following match 8-1.
