(Holdrege)-On Friday, February 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Phelps County Courthouse, Theresa Puls Phelps County Commissioner Chairman, will read the official proclamation proclaiming 2023 as the year to celebrate Phelps County’s 150th Birthday. The Phelps County Historical Society will also have their new 150th mobile history exhibit on display. This will be a short program, and is open to the public. What better way to kick off the year then to do it at our own Phelps County Courthouse!

To help celebrate, the Nebraska Prairie Museum is scheduling a wide variety of monthly Prairie Programs that are free to the public. Dates and time vary, so please be watching the Holdrege Daily Citizen, listening to KUVR radio, or following the Museum on Facebook. The Museum’s mobile history display will rotate all over Phelps County during 2023. The Chamber’s Swedish Days, held this coming June 16-17th, will also celebrate Phelps County’s 150th. The Museum hopes everyone can come up with a unique float recognizing the many facets of our county’s history. More items are still in the works including a possible time capsule, and a fun Fall Festival at the Nebraska Prairie Museum that hopefully will include a 6-acre corn maze, pumpkins, food, music and more!

If your organization is planning something special, please call the Museum (995-5015) and let us know. We want to help get your plans out to the public by putting the information on our Facebook page.
