HOLDREGE – Elijah Watson and Andrew Sindt started their film making careers in their backyards. Both joke about how bad those projects were, but the passion from those backyard films carries on as they have brought their hometown into the next creation.

“It started in high school for me,” said Sindt. “One of the bigger epiphanies of my life was realizing this could become a job.”

Sindt adds that he credits Watson for first inspiring him to get into film making. Watson, a visual effects coordinator for Mammal Studios in Los Angeles, agrees that his first few projects were not great, but after working his way from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to Omaha and then to Los Angeles, he has since grown his craft and now has opportunities to work on projects like the one he partners with Sindt.

In April, Sindt and Watson returned to Holdrege as they prepared to shoot footage for their upcoming short film, “Moving in Stereo”. Watson adds some of the locations that were filmed locally:

The film is an inspiration from Sindt, who wrote a feature length film that was cut to the shorter format. Sindt cites his inspiration for his creation from movies such as “Dazed and Confused” and “American Graffiti”. Sindt describes the movie’s plot:

The film concluded shooting after an impromptu 4th Avenue Cruise organized to gain footage of vintage vehicles driving through town. Currently, the footage is being edited into the short film format. Watson adds that editing, including adding composers, visual effects, sound design, and other additions will take about three months.

The first public viewings planned will be at film festival screenings and the goal is to have the short film released on Amazon Prime for public view.
