Lincoln, Neb. — An inmate who went missing from the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln is back in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services. George Piper, 54, turned himself in Tuesday and was transported to the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln.

Piper did not return to the facility from his job in the community on Thursday, February 2. He started his sentence in 1997. He was sentenced to 35 to 52 years on charges out of Red Willow and Frontier Counties that include first degree sexual assault, second degree assault, burglary and escape. Piper has a tentative release date of November 19, 2023, and a scheduled parole hearing in August 2023.
