Kearney, Neb. – Nine members of the Nebraska-Kearney track and field team will compete this weekend at the 2022 NCAA Division II Championships in Michigan. The three-day meet (May 26-28) is hosted by Grand Valley State in suburban Grand Rapids. A free live video stream and live results are available. Note the schedule lists Eastern times; rain is in the forecast for Thursday and Friday so there may be weather delays. McCool Junction native Luke Stuckey gets things started Thursday at 4:10 p.m. Central with the 1,500-meter prelims. Stuckey ran in both the NCAA Cross Country Championships(Florida) and the NCAA Indoor Championships (Pittsburg) this academic year. A successful effort Thursday puts the two-time All-American into the finals Saturday at 1:25 p.m. Central.

At 5:40 p.m. Central, Ainsworth junior Ben Arens takes part in the steeplechase prelims. He also was in Florida for cross nationals with this his first NCAA track meet. He is aiming to be the fifth Loper steeple All-American; the finals are Friday at 6:15 p.m. Central. Finally on Thursday (7:10 p.m. Central), Iowan Myles Bach runs the 10,000. Bobby Brindamour (1994) is the only other UNK runner at the D2 level to earn AA status (top 12) in this event. Three-time All-American Brayden Sorensen (Kearney) gets things started Friday in the high jump (2:30 p.m. Central) with super senior Anna Squiers (Kearney Catholic) throwing the discus at 4 p.m. She would be the first Loper female dual-sport All-American at the D2 level; she has twice been named an AA in volleyball. At 5 p.m. Central, Fremont native Wes Ferguson takes part in the 800-meter prelims. He was national champ in this event at the indoor meet; finals are Saturday at 2:45 p.m. Central. On Saturday, Kansas natives Evan Prohaska (9:30 a.m. Central) and Jaida McEwen (12:30 p.m. Central) throw the javelin. Darren Grauerholz is the only Loper, male or female, D2 All-American javelin thrower (1992 and 1993). Finally, O’Neill sophomore Abby Everitt looks to repeat as an All-American in the high jump (1:05 p.m. Central). She tied for 12th last spring to join older sister, Emily, as a UNK All-American.
