Holdrege ready to compete in Legion Class B Senior State Tournament

Holdrege, Neb. – The Class B Senior State Tournament is coming to Holdrege this weekend. From August 3 to August 7, eight teams will meet at Landmark Field with the hope that all of their hard work and preparation will be rewarded with the first-place trophy.

The bracket is made up of the seven area tournament champions and the state tournament host. This year’s area champions are ETC Knights Black Post 211 (Mt Michael), Gana Trucking Post 105 (Norris), Blair Post 154, Wahoo State Bank Post 82 Reds, Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 (Wayne), Central City Post 6, and Auburn First National Post 23.

As the host team, Holdrege Inspire Rehab will be a participant in this year’s tournament. Head Coach Mike Waller is confident his team has what it takes to compete against some of the best teams in Nebraska.

The 17-11 Inspire Rehab Seniors just finished as the runners up in the B6 Area Tournament held in Broken Bow July 26-30. Holdrege fell 6-5 to Central City in the championship game, they had also lost to Central City earlier in the tournament. Their wins came against McCook, Minden, and Broken Bow.

During the 2024 season, the Holdrege offense struggled at times. They went 1-3 in their last four regular-season games and scored just 15 runs on 25 hits during that stretch. In their five area tournament games, Inspire Rehab improved tremendously. Their numbers at the plate ballooned to 40 runs and 45 hits.

Holdrege Inspire Rehab will open up their state tournament play on Saturday at 6 pm. KUVR’s coverage will begin at 5:50.
