First State Bank wins over Cozad Reds
First State Bank picks up win

Cozad- In a matchup of two winless teams, First State Bank of Holdrege got the best of Cozad as they downed the Reds on Tuesday night 16-5. Holdrege jumped out early with four runs in the top of the first and cruised in for the win. They would score in every inning adding one run in the 2nd, three in the third and fourth innings and five in the fifth. Cozad managed to scored three in the fourth. Tate Florell picked up the win for First State Bank as he threw 3 1/3 innings and gave up four hits, and allowed four runs and struck out five. Kaeden Broeker finished up the game on the mound for Holdrege who improved to 1-5 on the season. At the plate, Carlos DeRivera led the way as he drove in four runs with a couple of hits. Florell along with being the winning pitcher also had three hits. Cozad was led at the plate by Nate Engel who went three for three with an RBI. The Reds dropped to 0-6 on the season and will play tonight at Gothenburg. Holdrege also won the juniors game 16-2. Click here to listen to podcast.
