A 26-year-old Lincoln man, connected to a Furnas County human sex trafficking investigation, entered pleas to amended charges in his case Tuesday morning in Furnas County District Court.   Dylan Brooks entered no contest pleas to charges of Attempted Sex Trafficking of a Minor and two counts of First Degree Sexual Assault.  All three charges are Class II Felonies with a potential penalty of 1 year  to 50 years imprisonment on each of them and registration as a sex offender.

District Judge Jim Doyle accepted the pleas and found Brooks guilty of the charges.  Sentencing was set for February 10, 2022 at 1:00pm.   The charges stem from incidents with a female victim that occurred on September 14 and 17, 2019 in Furnas County.   One charge of  Sex Trafficking of a Minor was amended to the Attempt of Sex Trafficking of a Minor, the other was dismissed. Two counts of Visual Depiction of  Sexually Explicit Conduct were also dismissed as part of the plea agreement with the prosecution.   As part of the agreement, Brooks is required to cooperate with the State in the prosecution of other cases involving the victim including the main conspirator in the investigation, Billy Quinn.  Quinn is set to be sentenced on his convictions next month(Dec 22nd).   The agreement does not include any recommendation on the sentence Brooks will receive.

In his statement on the factual basis of the charges Furnas County Attorney Morgan Farquhar said that if the matter were tried, the state would have presented evidence…that on or about September 14, 2019 in Furnas County.  That the defendant, Mr. Brooks, was contacted by another gentleman named William Quinn, wherein it was arranged that Mr. Brooks would travel” to a home in Oxford.  “And at that time he did attempt to obtain the minor”…”who is the same victim in Counts 2 and 3.  For the purpose of production of pornography, which was produced by Mr. Quinn on that date and time alleged involving this particular victim and Mr. Brooks engaging in sex acts at that time”.

Brooks’ bond was continued at 10% of $3 Million.  It was posted for Brooks on March 2, 2020.
