A Memorial Mass for Paul Crom will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Father Thomas Lux as Celebrant.  Following the Memorial Mass, an inurnment will take place at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

    Paul Edward Crom, 68 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at his home in Holdrege after a lengthy illness.  Paul was born on January 15, 1953 in Manning, Iowa, the second of five children born to the late Clarence Edward Crom and Marie Eleanor (Nelson) Crom.  Paul attended and graduated from West Monona High School in Onawa, Iowa with the class of 1971.

     He was united in holy matrimony to Linda Kay Hamann on March 27, 1971 at the Danbury Catholic Church in Danbury, Iowa and to this union two sons were born: Michael and Tony. Together the couple enjoyed traveling and being outdoors. The couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. 

     Paul worked as a chef for many years. The family came to Holdrege in the late 1970’s, where Paul managed the Holdrege Country Club.  Later, Paul and Linda purchased the Hotel Dale restaurant in Holdrege in 1983 and operated it until 1992. Paul started his real estate and appraisal career with Leland Thorell and Co. in the late 1980’s.  In 1993, Paul opened his own company, All in One Real Estate, working there up to his retirement. 

     He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and a long-time supporter of Pheasants Forever. He looked forward to annual hunting trips with local friends and “the Michigan guys”; and enjoyed Nebraska football and baseball, and activities with his grandsons, whenever possible. 

     Paul was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; and a brother-in-law, Greg Uhl.

     Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Crom of Holdrege; two sons: Michael Crom of Holdrege; and Tony Crom and his wife, Michele (Sunblade) of Lincoln, Nebraska;  two grandsons: Brandon Crom and his fiancé, Caitlyn Wisecup of Waverly, Nebraska; and Jeremiah Dakota (JD) Crom of Lincoln; two brothers: Richard Crom and his wife, Terry of Omaha, Nebraska; and Roger Crom and his wife, Debra of Bennington, Nebraska; two sisters:  Sharon Hurd and her husband, Hilbert (Buster) of Enterprise, Alabama; and Carol Crom of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two brothers-in-laws: Richard Hamann and his wife, Connie of Battle Creek, Iowa; and Don Hamann and his wife, Jane of Battle Creek, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Judy Uhl of Ida Grove, Iowa; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. 

     A Memorial Book Signing will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, with the family present.  

     A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home.

     A memorial has been established in Paul’s honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
