     Funeral Services for David Earsom will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastors Murray Jones, Doug Reed and David Oldham officiating.  Interment will follow at the Moses Hill Cemetery at rural Holdrege. Face coverings are kindly suggested.

     David Earsom, 61 years of age, of rural Loomis, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, after a brave and long battle with cancer.  David was born on March 21, 1959, at Holdrege, the second of three children to Richard “Dick” and Nila Mae (Buss) Earsom.  David received his primary education from Washington Elementary School and then attended and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1977.  He pursued higher education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and was accepted at Iowa State University and received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, graduating second in his class.

     On June 28, 1980, David was united in marriage to Kristie Pearson at the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church in rural Holdrege.  The couple made their home and started the Oxford Veterinary Clinic, near Oxford, Nebraska; they operated the Oxford Veterinary Clinic from 1984-1989.  Later they began to make their home on a farm and feed-lot, north of Loomis, where they raised their three children:  Brittany, Emily, and Joshua.  David engaged in veterinary work, farming and raising cattle.  

     David was a member of the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church, as well as, Trinity Evangelical Free Church.

     He will be remembered by his family as a follower of Christ, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  David enjoyed riding his motorcycle with Kris; and David enjoyed collecting antique tractors, and operating heavy machinery and land leveling.  He was a WWII historian, Green Bay Packer and Husker Football fan, and was an avid comedy fan.          

     David is preceded in death by:  his parents, Dick and Nila Earsom; and a niece, Rebekah Burbank.

     David leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Kris Earsom of rural Loomis; his three children:  Brittany Hanson and her husband, Matthew of Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska; Emily Wittenhagen and her husband, Matthew of Holdrege; and Joshua Earsom and his wife, Jenna of Loomis; ten grandchildren: Matthew Mannon; Calli, Gracelyn, and Hadley Hanson; Charlotte “Charley”, Drake, Ellowyn, and Zander Wittenhagen; and Avery Earsom, and her anticipated sister; his sister, Jane Burbank and her husband, Dale of Gillette, Wyoming; his brother, Eric Earsom of San Francisco, California; father-in-law and mother-in-law:  Norris and Muriel (Anderson) Pearson of Holdrege; brother-in-law:  Brent Pearson and his wife, Polly of rural Holdrege; sister-in-law: Lorie Edwards and her husband, Brian of Peoria, Arizona; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

      Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.  Face coverings will be required. 

      A memorial has been established in David’s honor and kindly suggested to Possibilities Africa; or the Trinity Evangelical Free Church.
