Giving Tree Donations

As the holiday season approaches, our thoughts often turn to joy, gatherings, and warmth. However, for families impacted by violence, this time of year can evoke feelings of anything but peace and happiness.

Join us in embracing the spirit of giving this season by participating in the Giving Trees initiative at various locations. These trees will showcase ornaments detailing the additional gifts needed by families. Last year, this collective effort supported 60 families and played a crucial role in supplying necessities to The S.A.F.E. Center’s shelter. We kindly request that purchased items be returned to The S.A.F.E. Center by December 15 for distribution. Trees will be displayed right before or after Thanksgiving and can be found at Kearney Midway Buick GMC at 515 2nd Avenue East, Innovative RX Compounding Pharmacy at 416 W. 48th Street Suite 20, and at The S.A.F.E. Center office at 620 East 25th Street Suite 14. In Holdrege, a tree is located at Phelps Memorial Health Center.

In addition to this initiative, there are multiple ways to support The S.A.F.E. Center’s mission. Contributions in the form of financial donations, toiletries, food items, paper products, and gift cards listed on our agency wish list at www.safecenter.org. For those interested in providing financial assistance, you’re encouraged to donate during the Kearney Area Community Foundation’s Give Where You Live event on Thursday, December 7. Your generosity not only helps meet immediate needs but also ensures the sustenance of our services through the year.

Nikki Gausman, Executive Director of The S.A.F.E. Center, expressed, “Many individuals and families in our area face the harsh reality of living with or recovering from violence during this time. Together, with the support of our communities, we aim to brighten their holidays and offer hope and assistance.” Create cherished holiday memories by supporting a family in need with your own family or foster a culture of giving within your workplace.
