Wilcox community to honor, remember late Jarad Robinson through fundraiser on Aug. 5

August 4th, 2022

At just 39 years old, Jarad Robinson of Wilcox, Nebraska, tragically lost his life to a farming accident in mid-July. He leaves behind his wife, three sons ages 19, 15, and 11, and many family members and friends.

Jarad was always willing to help anyone in need, so his community decided it’s time to return the favor.

A benefit BBQ and live and silent auction will be held Friday, August 5th at the Wilcox-Hildreth High School gym in Wilcox. Proceeds will benefit the Jarad Robinson Memorial Fund.

Cody Robinson of Wilcox is Jarad’s younger brother and one of the event organizers. He said he encourages people to come out to support Jarad’s family.

Though no words are ever sufficient to describe someone whose life was lost too soon, Jarad has been described by many as the friendliest of faces and the most helpful of hands.

“He touched a lot of people’s lives and now they’re coming back to support his family after he’s gone,” said Robinson.

As Robinson grieves and heals from his loss, he says he hopes to be a little more like Jarad for himself and for others.

“He would take the time to enjoy the people, talk with the people and just enjoy the moment. I keep telling myself that more and more every day,” he said. “You gotta be a little more ‘Jarad’ and just enjoy the moment.”

The BBQ and silent auction will begin at 5:00, and the live auction will begin around 7:30. For those unable to attend, Robinson said donations can be sent to Cornerstone Bank in Wilcox.

Bidders are urged to pre-register for a bid number online. More information is posted in the Jarad Robinson Memorial Fund Facebook page.

The event is sponsored by the Wilcox Lions Club and the Wilcox Fire Department.
