Omaha, NE. – The Omaha Mavericks won their third straight game taking down the College of Saint Mary 87-57 Sunday afternoon at Baxter Arena. Four different Mavericks scored in double-digits including a career-high 23 from Sam Mitchell.

Leaders For Omaha
Mitchell led the way for the Mavericks with a career-high 23 points, including four buckets from behind the arc. Mariah Murdie and Kennedi Grant both reached double-digit point totals for the second consecutive game with 18 and 17 respectively. Murdie also hauled in a team-best nine rebounds. Lauren Frost also chipped in 11 points, the most she’s scored in a game this season.

Leaders for College of Saint Mary
Bailey White led the way for the Flames scoring 12 points, all from behind the three-point line. Alyssa Marsh-Contreras and Clare Lewandowski both also reached double-digits, each with 10 points. Sidney Anderson hauled in a team-high nine rebounds to go along with her two blocks.

Team Stats
Omaha played their best offensive game of the season against the Flames, they scored a season-high 87 points shooting 49.2 (30-61) percent from the field and 46.2 (6-13) percent from three-point range. The Flames shot 32.7 (18-55) from the field. The Mavericks outrebounded the College of Saint Mary 43-30 and scored 29 points off of 24 Flames turnovers.

Inside the First Quarter
The College of Saint Mary held steady with the Mavericks in the first quarter thanks in large part to four three pointers from White and Marsh-Contreras, who had two apiece. Grant led the Mavericks with five points in the quarter however the Flames took a 22-19 advantage into the first break.

Inside the Second Quarter
The Mavericks dominated the second quarter outscoring the Flames 28-12 in the period on 9-14 shooting from the field. Murdie got the scoring going in the second with two free-throws, before a Grant three gave Omaha a 25-22 lead. After a Flames free throw tied the game at 32 the Mavericks went on a 15-3 run to take a 47-34 lead into the half. 

Inside the Third Quarter
Omaha increased their lead in the third quarter thanks in part to eight points from Mitchell including two threes. They took a 67-49 advantage into the final period.

Inside the Fourth Quarter
The Mavericks started the fourth quarter on a 10-2 run getting baskets from four different players pushing the advantage to 77-51. Omaha closed out the game with relative ease on the way to the 87-57 final score.

Next Up
The Mavericks return to Baxter Arena for the third game of their four-game homestand Wednesday. Omaha will take on the Kansas State Wildcats with tip-off set for 5 p.m.
