The Omaha Mavericks Softball team played a quick one-and-done road in Wichita, Kansas tonight against the Wichita State Shockers. Omaha fell 6-1 in the contest. The Mavericks will return home to Omaha for a three game series with the North Dakota Fighting Hawks this Saturday and Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Shockers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after the opening inning
- WSU would extend their lead to 4-0 after a three-run 3rd inning
- Omaha found the scoreboard in the top of the 5th after Lynsey Tucker singled in Jaelle Johnson to make it 5-1 Wichita State
- WSU would add their sixth and final run in the bottom of the 6th inning
GAME NOTES
- Sydney Nuismer would be the pitcher of record for Omaha tonight. Her record on the season is now 7-4
- Nuismer pitched three innings allowing nine hits and four runs while striking out two.
- Senior pitcher Kamryn Meyer pitched three innings allowing three hits on two runs and struck out five
- Tucker’s RBI in the 5th inning brought her season total to 11
