Pender Seniors Eliminated from Class C Senior Legion State Baseball Tournament

WAKEFIELD – The season came to an end for the Pender Senior Legion baseball team on Monday, as they lost 7-6 to Wakefield in an elimination game at the Class C State Tournament in Wakefield, as aired on 107.9 The Bull.

Pender led 1-0 after the first inning before Wakefield tied it at 1-1 in the second.

Wakefield added five runs in the third inning to go up 6-1.

Both teams scored a run in the fifth inning, and Wakefield led 7-2.

Pender made things interesting in the sixth inning, scoring four runs to cut the deficit to just run, making it a 7-6 game still in favor of Wakefield.

Pender was unable to score in the seventh inning, preserving the 7-6 victory for Wakefield.

This was the fourth meeting of the season between the two teams, and the first win for Wakefield.

Wakefield used three pitchers in the game, with starter Tanner Thompson picking up the win.

Tyler Olson pitched a complete game in the loss for Pender.

At the plate, Adrien Flores had three hits for Wakefield followed by Mason Lamprecht with a pair of doubles and two RBI.

Nick Buchholz led Pender with three hits.

Pender is eliminated from the tournament while Wakefield advances to Tuesday’s semifinals, where they will meet Palmer-Wolbach-Greeley at 4:00.

In the other semifinal Tuesday night, It’s Malcolm vs Tecumseh at 7:00.
