NREA Youth Energy Leadership Camp

NREA Youth Energy Leadership Camp
July 30th, 2021 | CCPPD

The 2021 NREA Youth Energy Leadership Camp was held July 19th to July 23rd at the 4-H Camp in the
Nebraska National Forest at Halsey. There were 41 campers from 20 member systems, including
two from Cuming County Public Power District.

Through interesting workshops, fascinating demonstrations and presentations by regional experts
addressing the many issues affecting the rural electric program, campers depart after five days far more
knowledgeable than when they arrived. A tour to the Gerald Gentleman Power Station and the Kingsley
Hydro-Electric Power Plant provided a first-hand look at the process of generating electricity.
The 2021 Ambassadors were Isaak Hogeland of Denton, Neb. (Norris PPD), Violet Schwager of
Atkinson, Neb. (Niobrara Valley EMC), and Chevy Lutz of Benkelman, Neb. (Southwest PPD). The
2021 Good Eggs were Hailey Hunzeker of West Point, Neb. (Cuming County PPD) and Tucker
Stagemeyer of Page. (North Central PPD).

Hailey Hunzeker and Levi Schiller were the two representatives that attended camp from Cuming
County Public Power District. They both said they enjoyed the week and said they would recommend it
to other students. They were both asked to attend next year as junior counselors. Thank you for being
such great representatives for CCPPD!
