Nebraskan elected Vice President NCBA

The manager of a Nebraska feedlot has been elected into a top leadership position within the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

Buck Wehrbein, who has managed custom feedlots since 1984 in Nebraska and Texas, was elected Vice President of NCBA late last week.

Wehrbein also feeds his own cattle and previously served as the 2022 NCBA Policy Division Chair.

Wehrbein has been active in the beef industry for many years, serving on the Nebraska Beef Council since 2012. He held many different roles on the board for the Nebraska Beef Council, including treasurer and board chairman.

Todd Wilkinson, a South Dakota native, cow-calf producer and cattle feeder became the new NCBA president. Wilkinson, along with his son, operates Wilkinson Livestock in De Smet, South Dakota. He has also practiced law for almost four decades and specializes in business transactions, estate planning and probate, real estate matters and agricultural law.

Mark Eisele of Wyoming was named president-elect and Brad Hastings of Texas was named NCBA treasurer. Virginia cattleman Gene Copenhaver was elected chair of the NCBA Policy Division. Tim Schwab of Indiana was elected policy vice chair. Clark Price of North Dakota and Dan Gattis of Texas were elected as chair and vice chair of the NCBA Federation division, respectively.
