Names have been released in Tuesday’s accident on Highway 9 between West Point and Pender.

The driver of the semi was Anthony Eichelberger, of Wisner, and the driver and passenger of the SUV was Amadu Bah, of Norfolk, and James Lasley of Macy, respectively.

Two people were transported to Franciscan Healthcare in West Point in critical condition and life flighted to UNMC as the result of an accident at the intersection of Highways 9 and 51 between West Point and Pender Tuesday afternoon. Law enforcement and first responders arrived at the scene around 3:15 p.m. when an SUV transporting the two people, Amadu Bah of Norfolk, and James Lasley, of Macy, was engulfed in flames in the southeast ditch of the intersection. A semi pulling a live bottom trailer was on its side in the southwest ditch, and the driver, Anthony Eichelberger, of Wisner, was transported to Franciscan Healthcare with Minor Injuries. According to a press release from the Cuming County Sheriff’s Office, the semi was southbound on Highway 9 when the Highway 51 Westbound SUV pulled out in front of the semi tractor trailer after being stopped at a stop sign. The Nebraska State Patrol, West Point Fire and Rescue, and the State Department of roads all assisted the Sheriff’s Office.
