GREENSBORO, N.C. — The American Baseball Coaches Association and ATEC have announced their 2022 National and Regional Coaches of the Year in the collegiate in high school divisions.

Bellevue University baseball coach Duane Monlux was named one of 10 NAIA Regional Coaches of the Year after leading the Bruins to the Avista NAIA World Series. The award is the fifth such honor of Monlux’s career after having previously been named ABCA NAIA Regional Coach of the Year in both 2016 and 2019 with the Bruins and previously with Dickinson State in both 2006 and 2007.

Monlux guided Bellevue to their 15th Avista NAIA World Series appearance in 2022. During the campaign, the Bruins posted a 49-13 overall mark, going 25-2 in conference play and sweeping both the NSAA Regular-Season and Tournament titles. BU took the league’s lone automatic bid in making their 24th NAIA National Tournament Appearance, hosted their fourth Opening Round at Don Roddy Field, and reached the Avista NAIA World Series for the third time in the past six full seasons.

During Monlux’s 12-year tenure with the Bruins, he has compiled a 492-189-3 (.721) overall record and gone 210-39 (.843) in conference play. He has directed the Bruins to a total of 13 conference championships and led Bellevue to 11-straight NAIA National Tournaments

This season saw three Bruins earn NAIA All-American honors, two win ABCA/Rawlings Gold Gloves, 12 players named to the All-NSAA teams (first and second), six earn conference Gold Gloves, and Bellevue sweeping all four major conference awards, including Monlux earning his ninth career conference coach of the year award.
