FREMONT – Born and raised in Colombia, internal medicine physician Carlos Giraldo, MD, spent part of his career working with Doctors Without Borders, caring for people in countries throughout Latin America, Asia and Africa.
“I really try to understand the patient’s background since I have a lot of experience working in more than 14 countries on different continents with different languages,” he said. “So, I always try to connect the patient with their symptoms, trying to understand their background with the current situation.”
Dr. Giraldo – who’s now seeing patients at Methodist Physicians Clinic (680 E. Fremont Medical Park Drive) – values the wide range of resources and services available under the Methodist umbrella. Methodist’s offerings and patient-first philosophy, he believes, really allow him to help people improve their quality of life – physically and mentally. And that’s what makes his job so rewarding.
He encourages everyone to establish a relationship with a primary care provider before something goes wrong.
“Unfortunately, many conditions are silent, so you don’t feel anything until the disease is really advanced,” he said.
