SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the preseason football coaches’ poll for the 2024 season. Midland University was tabbed fourth by the conference coaches while Northwestern College is the preseason pick to win the GPAC championship.

A season ago, Midland went 5-5 in the GPAC and 6-5 overall. This year’s team will look to build upon last year’s successes as they vie for another winning record on the gridiron. Under head coach Jeff Jamrog, the Warriors have eight straight seasons with a winning record. Their 52 wins since 2016 are the most of any college football team in Nebraska. They are one of two teams (Wayne State; .513) with an overall winning record during that time (52-32, .619).

Northwestern, the preseason conference favorite, received 97 points with 7 first-place votes. They have reached the NAIA title game in the last two seasons. They were the 2023 NAIA Football Runner-Up after winning the 2022 NAIA Football National Champion.

Along with Northwestern, Morningside University and Dordt University picked up berths in the expanded NAIA Football Championship Series. Morningside was picked second with 89 points (3 first-place) while Dordt was third with 87 points (1). Midland garnered 67 points while Concordia University rounded out the top five with 65 points. Midland will begin its 2024 season in just over three weeks on Friday, August 30. The Warriors will host Clarke University for a special Friday night game under the lights at Heedum Field. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. in Fremont, Nebraska. For a complete look at the 2024 Midland Football Schedule, click here.
