Sunday morning a bicyclist was hit and killed north of Valley. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened at about 10:15 on 252nd Street near Rainwood Road. Somebody was driving a vehicle close behind the rider on the bicycle when the vehicle struck the bike. Life saving measures were tried on the cyclist but they died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, which went into a ditch after the collision, was not hurt. The investigation is ongoing.
