OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton softball head coach Krista Wood announced her first addition to the 2023 roster with the signing of pitcher Natalia Puchino (Milliken, Colo.) on Tuesday afternoon.

“I am excited to add Natalia to our team and add depth to our pitching staff,” said Wood. “She is a competitor on the mound and is driven to win. Natalia has a good mix of velocity and movement which will make her very successful at the Division I level.”

Puchino, a three-time all-conference and two-time pitcher of the year performer at Severance High School, was one of the most dominant pitchers during her senior season. In 157 innings in the circle, Puchino compiled a 14-9 overall record with a 1.29 ERA and a state-leading 300 strikeouts, which also ranked third-best in the country.

Puchino earned CHSAA 4A First Team All-State honors after leading the Silver Knights in batting average (.603), RBI (35), doubles (10) and home runs (4). She helped lead Severance to an 18-11 record and a trip to the Colorado Class 4A state tournament quarterfinals.

As a junior in 2020, Natalia paced her squad with a .541 batting average while also recording a 2.48 ERA with 156 strikeouts in 70.2 innings of work. Her efforts in the circle and at the plate earned her CHSAA 4A All-State Honorable Mention accolades.

Puchino also plays club softball for the Colorado Styxx and is coached by Pablo Severtson. Off the diamond, Puchino was a standout basketball player, earning honorable mention all-state honors twice throughout her career.
