The Central Community College softball swept Cloud County (Kan.) Community College in a double-header on Tuesday at Raider Field.

With the wins, the Raiders have won six games in a row and sport a record of 13-8.

In the opener, the Raiders and T-Birds were tied at 2-2 after the second inning when CCC tacked on two more runs in the third and another in the fourth to go up 5-2. The scoring was dormant until the top of the seventh when the T-Birds scored a run, but that’s as close as they got and CCC posted a 5-3 win. Andrea Palma hit a pair of doubles and an RBI. Kenzie Bonner and Addison Kudron (#16 in background) each recorded an RBI. CCC hurler Kailee Pollard was the winning pitcher, improving her record to 9-2.

In the nightcap, the Raiders built a 6-0 lead through five innings before the T-Birds tied the game with six runs in the top of the sixth inning. CCC scored five unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the finishing touches on an 11-6 victory. Emma Lees recorded a triple and two RBIs while McKinna Moats (#27 in foreground) totaled a pair of RBIs. Palma went the distance in the circle, facing 27 CCCC batters en route to the win.

“I’m proud of the competitiveness we have been bringing,” said CCC head coach Caitlin Simon. “Our goal the past week was to win two every time we played and that’s exactly what we did. The 6-0 run we are on is a great confidence booster going into next week when we face Iowa Lakes, which is ranked, and Iowa Western the following day.”
