The Chargers Women Volleyball team fell in straight sets in Mitchell, South Dakota against Dakota Wesleyan in a GPAC conference match.

In the first Set, the Cliff struggled to stay within reach of the Tigers. With the score 10-14, the Tigers went on a 4-0 run that extended their lead to eight points. The Cliff would continue to claw back in the deficit but ultimately fell 17-25. Chloe Johnson and Abbie Ericson both contributed three kills in the set.

The second set was a back-and-forth struggle, with the Chargers and Tigers tied at 21-21 in the back half of the set.  The Tigers would take the momentum with a three point run and take set two 25-22.  Toria Andre had three kills in the set followed by Sami Wasmund with two. In set three, the Tigers jumped out to a 20-11 lead and never looked back.  Tigers would take the set 25-15 winning the match 3-0.  

The Chargers were led in kills by Chloe Johnson with 10, followed by Abbie Ericson’s six and Sami Wasmund recorded five.  Abbey Jones had two service aces and Maureen Imrie added one.  Toria Andre led the team in blocks with six, while Maureen Imrie dished out 17 assists followed by Madilyn Wagaman’s 15.

The Tigers were led by Ady Dwight who notched 18 kills in the contest followed by Madeline Else who contributed 41 assists.  

“DWU is a tough team on a hot streak. I was very proud of how our blockers performed tonight,” said head coach Lindsey Weatherford. “Chloe Johnson continues to be consistent on the pin for us, and our setters have done a great job of putting her in a position to score.”

The Chargers fall to 5-10 overall and are 0-5 in the GPAC. They will look to rebound next Wednesday in the cross-town rivalry against Morningside in Sioux City, Iowa.
