The West Point City Council met online for their regular monthly meeting Tuesday night. Engineer John Zwingman updated the council on the progress of the Water Treatment Plant Improvement Project.

Zwingman says Rutjens Construction will be back working on the piping this week for about the next two weeks before placing the media, disinfecting and testing the tanks, and completing the tie in to the system.

He adds Control Personnel will be on site about June 8th to the 15th to start placing equipment, and the Electrical Contractor will be on site at about the same time to run the Control Conduits, and the Generator and Transfer Switch will come in later.

The Council also approved the plans and specs for Water Main Improvements.

Zwingman said.

Zwingman says the project is more than likely going to start in the fall and wrap up by June of 2021.

Also at the meeting, the council approved the Chambers request for $3,000 for the annual 4th of July Fireworks Display, down from the $5,000 amount normally requested.

The council also approved an ordinance for their meetings to begin at 5:30 p.m. year round.
