Around 12:40 Monday afternoon two people were sent to an Omaha hospital after an accident in Stanton County that closed a road for about 1 1/2 hours.  An eastbound car on Old Highway 8 southeast of Norfolk lost control and rolled ejecting the female passenger onto the road. The 16 year old driver, Jonathan Russell of Norfolk fled the scene on foot and was later found by the Stanton County Sheriff’s office in a field about 3/4 mile west of the accident scene. The female, 16 year old Jasmine Porter of Ainsworth, was flown from the scene to a hospital. Russell was first taken to a local hospital before being transported to an Omaha hospital.  Speed was a contributing factor in the accident and seatbelts weren’t in use.  Jonathan Russell was cited for No Operators License, Careless driving, Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident and a Probation Violation.
