Richard D. ‘Dick’ Brown 81 of Fremont, Nebraska passed away Monday August 26, 2024 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. He was born December 27, 1942 in Oakland, Iowa to Arthur and Mary Belle (Parrick) Brown.
Dick grew up in Oakland and graduated from high school there. He lived in Council Bluffs, IA from 1961 to 1980 when he came to Fremont. Dick married Jane Forsberg March 12, 1983 in Fremont. In 1987 they moved to Ashland, NE for two years and then moved to Red Oak, IA. He was a postmaster for the US Postal Service, until his retirement in 1991. After his retirement he moved to Henderson, IA in 1992 and Oakland, NE in 1996 and back to Fremont in 2006.
He was a member of Fremont Alliance Church, Fremont Noon Optimist Club in the 1980’s, Gideons from 1997-2006. He taught Sunday school for the deaf class in 1984 at the Alliance Church and was active with the deaf community at church.
Survived by his wife Jane of Fremont; son, Daniel (Kathy) Brown of Council Bluffs; daughter, Rebecca Blair of Fremont; brothers James (Janet) of Omaha and William (Flo) Brown of Louisburg, MO; 3 granddaughters and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial Service will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 30, 2024 at Fremont Alliance Church.
Interment will be at Elim Lutheran Cemetery at Swaburg, NE.
