Patricia “Patty” Lynn Dohrman, age 56, of Brandon, South Dakota passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 in Brandon, SD. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at George Boom Funeral Home Brandon Valley Chapel in Brandon, SD at 5:00 PM followed by a Liturgical Wake Service and Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Risen Savior Catholic Church in Brandon, SD with burial to follow at 3:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery in Emerson, NE. Her family invite’s anyone that shares Patty’s passion for Husker football or fire trucks to wear something representing it for the visitation. Patricia Lynn Gentrup was born on April 14, 1966 in Pender, Nebraska to Thomas and Myra (Albrecht) Gentrup. She was raised on a farm near Waterbury, NE and received her education at Emerson-Hubbard High School graduating in 1984. She continued her education at Wayne State College in Wayne, NE. Following her education, Patty was united in marriage with Richard Dohrman. From this union, Patty was blessed with three children, Andrew, Lindsay and Theodore while living in West Point, NE and working at Smeal Fire Apparatus in Snyder, NE. Patty made her home in Brandon, SD in 2004 where she continued her career working with emergency response vehicles and fire apparatus. She began working at Crimson, then Rosenbauer for ten years before returning to Spartan Emergency Response where she was currently working. Patty loved the work and was proud to have served countless fire departments and first responders, making many meaningful relationships.
Patty was blessed with a passion for life, she enjoyed traveling; especially to Deadwood, SD for Mardi Gras and to San Diego to visit Theodore. She was an excellent baker of both birthday cakes and Christmas treats. She was a die-hard University of Nebraska Cornhusker Football fan. Above all she cherished spending time with her family; especially her grandson, Mads. She was extremely proud of her sons’ service to our country in the Army and US Marine Corps. Patty was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.
Grateful for having shared her life are her three children, Andrew Dohrman, Sioux Falls, SD, Lindsay Dohrman and her fiancé, Cory Viereck, Sioux Falls, SD and Theodore Dohrman and his husband, Stephen Halstead, San Diego, CA; one grandson, Mads Viereck; her parents, Tom and Myra Gentrup, Emerson, NE; four siblings, Julie Thompson and her husband, Bill, Bemidji, MN, Cheryl Varnado and her husband, Keith of Amite, LA, Dan Gentrup and his wife, Lori of Waterbury, NE and Al Gentrup and his wife, Sarah of Waterbury, NE; nieces, Hailie Thompson, Emily Thompson, Katherine (Travis) Moodie, Abigail Varnado, Jordyn Gentrup, Cailin Gentrup (fiancé, Tim Anderson), Melanie Gentrup and McKenna Gentrup; one nephew, Leighton Gentrup; and many other relatives and friends.
Patty is preceded in death by her grandparents, Casper and Margaret Gentrup and Ervin and Eunice Albrecht; many aunts and uncles; and her loving canine companion, Sandy.
