Mildred Aline (Schroeder) Mayberry, 97, of Pender, NE died on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at her home in Pender, NE.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in rural Pender, NE.  The inurnment will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home. 

Mildred was born on January 20, 1927, in Pender, NE, the daughter of Herman and Mathilda (Westerhold) Schroeder.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church near Pender.  On February 8, 1948, she was united in marriage to Warren Mayberry in a double wedding with her sister Dorothy (Duane) Slaughter.  Mildred and Warren went on to have three daughters, Mary, Sharon, and Kathy.  Together the couple farmed together for 70 years in the Pender area. 

Mildred enjoyed quilting, working on puzzles, traveling, playing cards, sewing, knitting, gardening, and many other activities.  For many years Mildred and Warren traveled south in the winter months, and for the past several years to Texas.  Warren passed away on July 26, 2018.  She continued to travel to Texas after Warren’s death.

Mildred is survived by daughters, Sharon Newell of Omaha, NE, Mary (Henry) Brondum-Luthauser of Aurora, CO; son-in-law, Mitch Gagne of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law, Ardyce Mayberry of Emerson, NE; brothers, Melvin (Viola) Schroeder of Wisner, NE, and Harold Schroeder of Pender, NE; brother-in-law, Duane Slaughter of Lyons, NE; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Mathilda “Tilly” Schroeder; husband, Warren; daughter, Kathy Gagne; granddaughter, Erica Brondum; sisters, Dorothy Slaughter, and Violet Jefferies; brother-in-law, Dale Mayberry; and a sister-in-law, Judy Schroeder.
