Joseph H. Franzluebbers, Sr., age 91, of West Point, Nebraska
October 3, 1930 - January 16, 2022

Joseph H. Franzluebbers, Sr., age 91, of West Point, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa in West Point, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, NE with Fr. Matt Niggemeyer as celebrant. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Nielsen Community Center. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and will continue on Thursday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa or American Veterans Park in West Point, NE. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family.

Joseph Herman Franzluebbers, Sr. was born October 3, 1930 in Cuming County, NE to Bernard and Catherine (Ortmeier) Franzluebbers.  He attended St. Boniface School through the 8th grade and helped his father on the farm and also worked for his uncle.

On April 14, 1952, he was drafted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged on April 13, 1954.

Joe was united in marriage to Rose Marie Vogel on January 5, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Olean, NE.  He worked for West Point Feed Product (Alfalfa Mill) until October of 1968, when he went to work for IBP until he retired in 1992.

Joe was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and American Legion Post #70.  He enjoyed gardening and being outside.  He loved playing cards with grandchildren and great grandchildren and his card club.

Joe, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents-Bernard and Catherine Franzluebbers, son-Kenneth Franzluebbers, brothers-Charles, Wenzel, and Emil Franzluebbers, sisters-Gertrude and Richard Ernesti, Marie and Gene Moser, and Mary Ann Franzluebbers, and a brother-in-law-Mel Kampschneider.
