Douglas W. Schlickbernd, 71 years, of Tekamah, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, September 19, 2023, 10:30 am at First Baptist Church in Tekamah, NE
VISITATION: One hour prior to service at the church
BURIAL: Tekamah Cemetery

Douglas William Schlickbernd was born to Harold and Phyllis (Moore) Schlickbernd September 14, 1951, in Columbus, Nebraska. He passed away September 13, 2023, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska.
Doug grew up in Beemer, Nebraska and graduated from Central Catholic High School in West Point, Nebraska. On March 4, 1973, Doug married Diane Elaine Shamburg in Tekamah. He worked in the Maintenance department for Sharlo Homes and Tekamah Herman Schools.
Doug volunteered as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America and received the Silver Beaver award in 2010. He was an active member of the Tekamah Lions Club, where he served as President, and received the Melvin Jones Fellowship award in 2021. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church.
He was proceded in death by his parents, stepmother Norma Schlickbernd, twin brother Dennis, father and mother-in-law Jack and Dorothy Shamburg, and sister-in-law Joyce Werley.
Doug is survived by his wife, Diane; children and families: Mike (Sara) Schlickbernd, Jack and Molly of Wayne, NE, and Mindy (Ryan) Wendt, Taylor, Tessa, Tatum, and Tacie of Boone, IA. His brothers Randy (Dee) of South Sioux City, Rich (Karen) of Columbus, Dan (Stacye) of Tuttle, OK, sister-in-law Vickie Schlickbernd of Bennington, stepsister Sally Jakub of Elkhorn, stepbrother Steve Mevert of Omaha, and Brother-in-law Chuck (Patti) Shamburg, of Las Cruces, NM. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
