Delwyn A. Pearson, 92, of Oakland, NE, passed away on September 23, 2024, at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point, NE.

Delwyn “Charlie” was born to Arthur and Anna (Young) Pearson on May 23, 1932, in Oakland, NE. Delwyn graduated from Craig High School in 1950. He was in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and served in the Korean Conflict. After the army, Delwyn began farming with his father until he purchased his own farm. The family tradition still continues with his son, Dan, farming the home place. Delwyn married DeLoise Gatzemeyer on February 11, 1961, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons, NE. To this union were born three children.

Delwyn and DeLoise lived most of their married life on the farm before moving to Oakland in 2011. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In addition to farming and raising livestock, Delwyn served on the St. Joseph’s Parish Council and the School Board of District 46. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Council #13496. He also enjoyed going on family vacations, sporting events, playing cards, square dancing, farm sales, and reading, especially the “Midwest Messenger”.

Delwyn was preceded in death by his parents; wife, DeLoise; brother, Stanley; sisters-in-law, Kathy Pearson, Fran Gatzemeyer, Erma Gatzemeyer; brothers-in-law, Loren, Patrick, James and Dennis Gatzemeyer and Kent Bunderson.

Delwyn is survived by his daughter, Doreen (Jerry) Fullington of Fremont; sons, Dan Pearson and Chuck (Verniline) Pearson all of Oakland; 5 granddaughters, Cherokee, Kristina, Chloe, Zoey and Skye and 5 great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Billye) Pearson of Oakland; sisters-in-law, Myra Bunderson of Oakland, Janiece Gatzemeyer of Omaha and Nancy Gatzemeyer of Bancroft; brother-in-law, Gary Gatzemeyer of Bancroft; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons, NE. Visitation will be Friday, from 5-7 pm, with family receiving friends with ROSARY at 7:00 pm all at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial with Military Honors at Oakland Cemetery, Oakland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Knights of Columbus, Council #13496 and Oakland Golden Oaks Senior Center.
