Carolyn was born on December 2, 1950, to Marvin and Bernice (Schober) White in Fremont, Nebraska. Carolyn grew up in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School in 1969. After graduating, she worked at Pendelton Woolen Mills and then took classes to become a certified nurse’s aide. She was hired as a CNA at the Fremont Annex.
Carolyn met Charles (Chuck) Throener, Jr. in West Point on October 31, 1972, and were united in marriage at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont on September 1, 1973. In their 50 years of marriage, Chuck and Carolyn were blessed with four children: Valerie, Brian, Michael and Melanie and 12 grandchildren
Carolyn lived her life with a servant’s heart. It was natural for her to put others needs before her own and it was easy to see in the jobs she committed most of her life to, being a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. Carolyn was known for her excellent cooking and baking. She will be remembered for her potato salad, banana bread, chocolate cake and cookies. In later years, Carolyn continued to share her time and love with others as a nurse’s assistant at the Franciscan Healthcare in West Point for over 10 years, Parkview Nursing Home as a kitchen assistant, a Hospice volunteer, and office/school aide volunteer at St. Wenceslaus Catholic School.
Carolyn loved her family and grandchildren. She wanted to spend time talking and sharing food. She enjoyed shopping, reading Amish fiction books, going out to eat and decorating her home for all the holidays. She wanted everyone to be happy and cared for. She will be dearly missed.
