McCook-The west team, behind game-MVP and incoming McCook Community College freshman Gabby Caskey, won the Wild West All-star Volleyball Classic in straight sets Sunday winning, 25-23.-25-15, 26-24 in the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center. Caskey, from Ogallala, led all players with 15 kills to go along with seven digs, two aces and two blocks. Her Ogallala teammate and incoming MCC freshman Gracen Tuttle had nine kills, four digs and two blocks. The winning coaches for the west team were MCC Volleyball Alum Emily Barr and her father Bob. Also for the west, McCook High School’s Makynna Cunningham had nine digs, two aces, one kill and one block. Shayda Vaughn, Hershey, had 13 digs, six kills and an ace. Faith Stewart, Sutherland, had 10 digs and one kill. Alexa Sandman, Wauneta- Palisade, had 12 digs one ace and one kill. Meghan Bishop, Perkins County, had two digs, one kill and one block. Chloe Dillan, Chase County, had seven digs and one kill. Allee Hiatt, Sutherland, had three kills, two digs and two aces.
The east team was coached by MCC Volleyball Alums Kallie Cathcart and Makenzie Derr. Autum Deterding, Cambridge, was named the most valuable player for the east squad. She had 12 kills, two digs and five blocks. Alexa Nelson, Hi- Line, had seven kills and eight digs. Harley Kuenning, Maxwell, had 15 digs and an ace. Stevie Handsaker, Maywood-Hayes Center had 12 digs and three kills. Kaylyn Roblee, Medicine Valley, had eight digs, four aces and two kills. Lindsey Rippen, Hitchcock County, had three kills, five digs and an ace. Aimee Merril, Hitchcock County, had one kill and one dig. Jayla Fleck, North Platte St. Pats, had three digs.
