One week after the Shrine Bowl it’s the summer all-star circuit continuing with the West Nebraska All-Star Football Game, scheduled to be played on Saturday night in Scottsbluff at Bearcat Stadium.

Player and coaches arrived to mid-90’s temperatures on Tuesday as they begin preparations for the game this weekend.

In charge of the West team this week is Chadron High School head coach Mike Lecher, “It means a lot. This is my fourth time being involved here, third time being last year when we lost the game due to COVID protocols. So it’s very important for us to get here finish through the week and play well on Saturday.”

Over on the East sideline will be Elm Creek High School head coach Jayce Dueland. Dueland has had his Elm Creek team out west before for a memorable playoff game up at Hemingford when it was freezing cold. Just the opposite this week and Dueland is glad to be here, “Just an honor. It’s a great experience for these kids, and coaches as well. Just to get out and start the summer with some football and get these kids one last game for some of them, and some of them get to prepare for college and playing at the next level.”

The West Nebraska All-Star Football Game is set for Saturday night at 7 pm MT at Bearcat Stadium in Scottsbluff.
